Microbial metabolite p-cresol inhibits gut hormone expression and regulates small intestinal transit in mice

چکیده
p-cresol is a metabolite produced by microbial metabolism of aromatic amino acid tyrosine. and its conjugated forms, p-cresyl sulfate glucuronide, are uremic toxins that correlate positively with chronic kidney disease diabetes pathogenesis. However, how affects gut hormones unclear. Here, we expose immortalized GLUTag cells to increasing concentrations found inhibited Gcg expression reduced glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) secretion in vitro . In mice, administration the drinking water for 2 weeks transcript levels other colon; however, it did not affect either fasting or glucose-induced plasma GLP-1 levels. Furthermore, glucose tolerance but promoted faster small intestinal transit mice. Overall, our data suggest suppresses regulates

The Relationship among Glycemic, Small Intestinal Transit and Insulinemic States in Normal Mice
Gastrointestinal (GI) complications during diabetes mellitus (DM) are common. Attempts to ascribe changes in the glycemic state to the altered GI (gastrointestinal) motility in experimental models yielded varied results. In the present study the possible cause-effect relationship between the changes in the glycemic, insulinemic states and small intestinal transit (SIT) in normal mice was examin...

متن کاملGut Microbial Colonization Orchestrates TLR2 Expression, Signaling and Epithelial Proliferation in the Small Intestinal Mucosa
The gut microbiota is an environmental factor that determines renewal of the intestinal epithelium and remodeling of the intestinal mucosa. At present, it is not resolved if components of the gut microbiota can augment innate immune sensing in the intestinal epithelium via the up-regulation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs). Here, we report that colonization of germ-free (GF) Swiss Webster mice wit...
متن کاملEffect of Iranian Black Tea Extract and Its Isolated Thearubigins on Intestinal Transit Time in Mice
Introduction: In this study, the effects of black tea extract of Iranian tea plant (Camellia sinensis var sinensis) and its polyphenolic pigment thearubigins were investigated on mice intestinal transit time. Method: Thearubigins were isolated by liquid-liquid fraction method. The effects of black tea extract and isolated thearubigins on intestinal propulsion were measured by charcoal propulsio...
متن کاملInfluence of microbial species on small intestinal myoelectric activity and transit in germ-free rats.
The effect of an intestinal microflora consisting of selected microbial species on myoelectric activity of small intestine was studied using germ-free rat models, with recording before and after specific intestinal colonization, in the unanesthetized state. Intestinal transit, neuropeptides in blood (RIA), and neuromessengers in the intestinal wall were determined. Clostridium tabificum vp 04 p...
